Twitter Expert Connect Post

For my twitter expert connect assignment I studied weight loss and physiology. I contacted several people such as @dipikagopal, @RIGCardPhys, @TSPhysiologist, @CardioKit, @eosborne67, @fsgfca, @FlanaganTroy,@Stacey_Braddish, @OLUWA70BA, @InvasiveCardiol, and @CCardiology. All of these accounts were run by physiologists, cardiologists, or fitness trainers. To each of these people, I ask a personalized question. I asked them questions, such as, what in their opinion was the fastest way to speed one’s metabolism, or cut fat.

In my opinion, this project did not bear much fruit. Despite contacting eleven people I only got 1 response. In this response, @CardioKit told me that they were not well equipped to answer my question. Most of them consistently liked my tweets however no one followed me back. Because of this none of my question were answered. Most of them have provided additional assistance or even made contact to this day. As such, I have not maintained any form of contact with any of these people. That said, although none of my questions were answered, I learned a lot from this project. This project has taught me how to use Twitter as a tool, to get information in a specific field or discipline. Although I did not get the results I wanted from this project, the process I used to acquire information through Twitter will serve me later on in life.

Genius Hour Project #1 Assignment

For my Genius Hour topic, I selected “fake news”. The reason as to why I chose this topic was because I always hear the term “fake news” in the media. Weather its president Trump accusing CNN of doing it, or a simple mistake from a News company, “fake news”, is never clearly defined. My research question was “What does it take to put fake news on the internet”. In that, I meant that I would be researching it in hopes of clearly defining it. I learned that “fake news”, is false information that is published online. Though this may be done by accident, some countries may purposefully use it as some form of propaganda. “Fake news”, may appear on various media outlets, these include Youtube, facebook, twitter, as well as online and physical Newspapers. This has helped me be more careful about with what I chose to view online. By doing an in-class presentation, and by publishing this blog post, I hope it entices others to do the same. My next Genius Hour will be on magic, and how it is used to manipulate human perception. It will allow me and those who see my presentation to do the same.

My School Life

I got to school for about 180 days a year. Every morning I wake up at 6:00am to get to school around, 7:30am, an hour before school starts. In this time I will either play basketball or do my homework. I have eight classes total, but only four per day. Social Studies, Science, Math, Technology,  Art, Language Arts, French, and P.E. Each class is one hour and twenty minutes long. After our second class, we always have about forty minutes of advisory, community meeting, or a free block in which we get to do homework. Right after that, we have 25 minutes of Lunch, but throughout the day we have 10 minutes of passing time in between classes. At the end of the day we get off at 3:20pm, however, I usually get off at around 5:00pm to play basketball.

Basketball

I absolutely love basketball and practicing it. I play it all the time at school, whether its playing 1v1s or 5v5s or just practicing layups and three-pointers in my free time. I see it as an escape from school or home when it gets stressful. I believe basketball is an incredibly powerful sport that can bring people together. Whether its just watching it, playing it, or having genuine love for the game.

The Twins

pangzi: The Celestial Capital Peak Welcome Song Huangshan

On the northern peak of Mount Song, in the ruins of the Shaolin Monastery,  Lies a pale old man named Yang. Yang has two grandchildren, one dark-skinned boy named Eezy, and his slightly lighter twin brother Cole. Yang has been training Eezy and Cole in martial arts their entire lives. This has included sparring and different physical and mental activities. This has lead to them developing quite a healthy rivalry. Cole and Eezy one day discover a small village near the bottom of the mountain when they arrive.  The people are struggling and no longer have any food or drink. Because of their pity for the villagers, they had a competition to see who could retrieve the most food and find the nearest stream, or lake in relation to the village. They both gather 15 wild boars each and locate the stream at the same time. This was their 100th tie. The villagers thank the twins for their generosity and they both go back up. The next morning, as Eezy and Cole are sleeping, Yang goes down the mountain, in order to gather tea leaves and water. Something he has been doing for over 50 years. When the boys wake up, Yang is not there. They decide that its nothing urgent. They wait a week, the longest they have ever gone without him. They realize that something must have gone wrong and they venture out in order to look for him. They end up in the village that they had saved a week prior, and they find Yang, laying on a burning crucifix. His body cut, and his flesh beaten off his back. They read the word “scum”, written in blood on his forehead, as the smell of as the smell of ashes fills their noses. What happens next?

My Comments

For my Student Blog Challenge, I was asked to add comments on four posts, I decided on Tahiry, Nate, Ty, and Djibril. I decided on them because on some level I could connect with all of them. For example, when Djibril made a post about what he would do if he was a teacher for one day, I found myself agreeing with him, and most of his ideas.

Red Blood at Pink Lake

It was a calm sunny morning. After arguing with brothers for three hours about weather I should go with them to lake rose with them the night prior. My brother and I went to a hotel near lake rose, while my other and his friend Habib, went to another hotel near lake rose. We went quad biking, and i was really exited because it was my first time. But just when I thought that it as easy, I fell off and the quad bike fell on top of me. My brother did the same thing only the engine burned his leg. Not the best trip I’ve had.

Gone With The Wind

About a few months ago, our dog, Zorro, left our house to go to our mom’s field. This was because he was very old and tired and could not handle being around two around tho two younger dogs that we had ( who played a bit ruff). I however was not too happy about him leaving our house considering that he had been living with us for the past 12 years. My mom convinced me that he was going to be okay and he was, for the first week. For the first week that he was at the field, he was pretty comfy and everything seemed to okay. He then however dug hole under the gate. For another week he was lost until we eventually found him. Unfortunately  it didn’t take a very long time for him to do the the exact same thing and escape again. This time however, no one found him. This made me furious as the guards should have kept a better eye on him. When my brother came back from trip to the states, I felt bad having to break the news to him, as he was the one to pick him up  from the streets when he was a puppy. As expected he did indeed feel bad. This time when my mom tried convincing me that everything was going to be okay, I did not listen. I still have not seen him to this day and have started blaming myself for not better appreciating it when he was there. I’ve known him for as long as I can remember now so this was very emotionally draining for me. For numerous, nights this would keep me up. Although I found this very sad, I was still able to able to recover. Also This did however teach me a very valuable lesson, which was to appreciate things while they lasted.
